Dancing With the Stars Season 18 Finalists to Redo Switch Up Dances — Who’ll Be Best?
The Dancing With the StarsSeason 18 Finals are here! The final four dancers have two routines to perform on Monday, May 19: the all-important Freestyles, considered the make-or-break dances for whoever wins, plus a redo of the Switch Up routines.
The Switch Up redo seems to be taking the place of the judges’ choice they’ve done in the past. It’s a good idea, though, since we’ll be able to compare the celebs to where they were back on Week 4 for the Switch Up, and also see how their original partnership makes them shine or maybe detracts from what they could be doing even better with someone else. We’ll see.
Here’s what the final four did for their Switch Up routines, which they’ll now do with their current partners:
This routine launched Week 4 and got four 7s, so if Candace and Mark Ballas get over a 28, it'll be an improvement. This was her first ballroom dance, and judge Carrie Ann Inaba said she was still getting used to frame. The punk song didn't seem to help them out too much either.
This is the one that may be toughest to beat. ‘Cause dang this AT is tight! This got a score of 39, with Len Goodman being the only hold-out for a 10. Maybe he'll go for a 10 this time, for Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Meryl. Listen for Len to rhyme something in the critique, that's sometimes a clue.
This got two 8s and two 9s, for a total of 34. Bruno Tonioli, one of the 9-ers, said the amount of footwork Mark gave her was amazing and she didn't go wrong once. Carrie Ann commented on how much more exposed Amy was, compared to how Derek Hough wraps her up.
There are meant to be two more dances on Tuesday, May 20 — for the final three and two — before the Mirror Ball trophy is awarded, but we’re not sure what’s up with those at this point. (Maybe favorite routines of the season, and an insta-dance?)
Which Switch Up redo are you most excited to see? Who will be most improved, do you think?
