The Originals Music: Songs From the Season 1 Finale — “From a Cradle to a Grave”

Not only did Season 1 of The Originals deliver a hybrid baby, intense family drama, and gallons of blood, but it also treated us to some amazing tunes. Each emotional scene of the Vampire Diaries spin-off was accompanied by the perfect song — and the same can be said for Season 1, Episode 22 (“From a Cradle to a Grave”).

Chris Mollere, the show’s music supervisor, revealed the songs featured in the epic finale right after tweeting congrats to the show’s creative team, writing: “Congrats to @julieplec & @MichaelNarducci on leading the way to create such a fantastic first season of The Originals! I’m in awe of y’all!” Sweet, right?

Even sweeter, however, was the way the music was used last night, adding another level of drama to Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Hayley’s (Phoebe Tonkin) baby drama. The already-chilling scenes were pushed over the top — and we loved every moment of it!

Check out the songs from the Season 1 finale:

Song: “Open Hands”
Artist: Ingrid Michaelson feat. Trent Dabbs
Scene: Cami finds the memorial for Klaus and Hayley’s baby, Klaus tells her to go.

Song: “Shallows”
Artist: Daughter
Scene: Klaus hands over Hope to Aunt Rebekah and says goodbye to his newborn daughter.
