The Originals Moving to Monday Nights For Season 2
We know what we’ll be doing Monday nights starting in the fall: gobbling up the second season of The Originals. The CW just announced that the supernatural drama will be moving to Monday nights at 8 p.m. when it comes back in the fall. Read on to find out more!
The Originals will be paired with new show Jane the Virgin, which will air in the Monday at 9 p.m. ET slot. Jane the Virgin is an adaptation of a Venezuelan telenovela, being developed by Emily Owens, M.D. showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman. The original drama tells the story of a woman who is artificially inseminated due to hospital error. Awkward alert, much?
Which show will be taking over The Originals’ time slot? Another spin-off! The Flash, a spin-off of The CW’s Arrow, will be taking over The Originals’ Tuesday at 8 p.m. slot. The CW’s other new programs — iZombie (from Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas!) and The Messengers — will debut midseason.
The Originals finished its first season off strong — both creatively and in the ratings. Will it continue to grow its audience in the second season? We hope so! The Originals will be up against some heavy-hitters in its new time slot: ABC’s Dancing With the Stars; The Big Bang Theory and Mom on CBS; The Voice on NBC; and Fox’s new comic-inspired series, Gotham. It will be interesting to see how it will fare with its new scheduling. We certainly know what we’ll be watching Monday nights. The supernatural drama has only improved so far in its run. We’re officially smitten.
What do you think of the schedule change? Will you watch The Originals Monday nights? Sound off in the comments below!
