Lea Michele’s (Rachel) book, Brunette Ambition is finally out today, May 20, but it’s actually several years in the making. In between shooting Glee and working on her debut album, Louder, Lea was hard at work on the book, which is complete with a heartfelt note to her late boyfriend, Cory Monteith (Finn).
Lea’s kind words, which appear in the book’s acknowledgements section, definitely made us a little misty-eyed. “To Cory, I'm so happy to know that you got to read this book," she writes. "Thank you for all your notes. I promise I made every single one. I love you.”
Cory passed away in July 2013 in a Vancouver hotel room from a heroin overdose, and in the months since his tragic death Lea has made it clear how much he meant to her and what a profound impact he had on her life.
On Louder she added “Cannonball” and “If You Say So” after he died. “Cannonball” is a power-ballad about picking yourself up after tragedy strikes, and Lea wrote “If You Say So” with Sia based on the loving last words Cory said to her.
We’re sure there’s more about Cory in the book, and like Lea we’re glad Cory got to read Brunette Ambition before he died. We’re sure he appreciates that Lea took all of his notes as well!

Glee Season 6 is expected to debut in 2015.
