Janelle Monáe Cancels Tour, Needs “Medical Supervision” — Is She OK?
We have some distressing news for fans of singer Janelle Monáe! The "PrimeTime" singer has canceled all Australia and New Zealand tour dates, as Live Nation Australia confirms she's suffering from a "continuing illness." A statement from the entertainment giant says Janelle must remain "under medical supervision."
When fans last heard directly from Janelle, she was celebrating moving along with her Golden Electric tour with "Somebody That I Used to Know" singer Kimbra. "Dubai bye my friend," she tweeted. "Melbourne, Australia bound."
While the 28-year-old singer, who contributed vocals to the fun. hit "We Are Young," made it to Melbourne — and her gear even made it onstage at the venue — her unspecified medical condition caused her to cancel the appearance at the last minute. "Band came out 30 minutes after Kimbra to announce she's ill and won't be appearing," reported local entertainment journalist Marcus Teague from the show.
Jenae remains in Melbourne under medical care. "Ms. Monáe is devastated at not being able to perform for her fans and has vowed to return to [Australian] shores in the not-too-distant future," says Live Nation's statement.
As we know from Miley Cyrus, unexpected medical issues can certainly happen on tour — and it's no fun. We wish Jenae a full and hopefully speedy recovery.
