It was news that The O.C. and Hart of Dixie fans have been waiting for: the day that Rachel Bilson would become a mom (well almost). Just last week, pregnancy rumors swirled around Rachel and her longtime boyfriend Hayden Christensen, and over the Memorial Day weekend, the Hart of Dixie starlet showed off her baby bump on the beach in Barbados.
Although the couple hasn’t officially announced they're expecting, Rachel’s growing belly sure said enough! But this pregnancy shouldn’t come as a surprise; in fact the couple have been talking about starting a family for some time now. “They’ve both talked about this for awhile and are so excited,” a source told Us Weekly. “Everyone is beyond thrilled for them.”
And so are we! We fell in love with Rachel back when she played Summer Roberts in the cult drama The O.C., and even more so when she became Dr. Zoe Hart in the CW’s Hart of Dixie. The show is now entering its fourth season and, just recently, Rachel’s co-star Jaime King welcomed her first son, James Knight, in the midst of filming.
"I shot until the day before I gave birth, literally, then went back six weeks later…it was gnarly!" King recently told Us Weekly. "But the blessing was by doing what I love to do it kept me distracted and it kept me active and healthy and I felt safer being on set because I knew if anything were to happen, my crew and cast would take care of me."
So, how will they go about filming Rachel — who is the star of the show — in the upcoming season? According to Jaime, she says the show will most likely shoot around Rachel’s growing baby bump, à la Scandal’s Kerry Washington.
“We shot up until the day before I gave birth. We're not doing that with Rachel, I think we're going to have more time before," Jaime explained. "I feel like it's a really celebratory time. I'm really thrilled and happy that she's going to be on this next journey of her life."
Aww, how sweet! We can’t wait for Rachel to welcome her little bundle of joy, and of course, the upcoming season of Hart of Dixie. Not only do we plan on DVRing the entire season, but we’ll be keeping track of how many ways the show hides Rachel’s burgeoning belly.
