Remember how Apollo Nida said last week that he thinks wife and Real Housewives of Atlanta star Phaedra Parks should stick by his side while he’s in prison for bank and wire fraud? We haven’t heard Phaedra’s thoughts on that controversial statement just yet, but the always outspoken Wendy Williams sure had a few words on it.
In one of her recent “Hot Topics” segments of the daytime show, Wendy brought up the current situation for the reality couple following Apollo’s guilty plea earlier this month. The Househusband won’t be sentenced until early July, but some reports are saying he’s facing up to 30 years in prison for his admitted crimes — though Wendy predicts it’ll be closer to five or 10 years, maximum.
Now, if you missed it, in a recent interview Apollo said, “I think Phaedra, in a perfect world, should be supportive as a wife should be...If she chooses to derail from the plan, then that's what she chooses to do. Whatever's been thrown at me, I deal with it. I would like to say I would want her to stay around and do what a wife should do.”
Wendy wisely first points out that marriage isn’t about the wife “obeying” the husband — preach! In regards to Apollo saying Phaedra should “stay around and do what a wife should do,” Wendy fires back, “What should a wife do, Apollo?”
If that wasn’t clear enough, the host goes on to say that, as a woman in her early 40s, Phaedra shouldn’t waste five years of her life.
“How will he be gainfully employed when he gets out?” Wendy also brings up. “Now, you’ve got a guy who has been in jail for 10 years of his young life, and he’s damaged … It’s a very unfortunate situation in the way he was raised. But I’d cut my losses in the name of love if he got five to 10 years in prison, because what are you supposed to do?”
And Wendy doesn’t only take issue with Apollo’s view on marriage and obedience, but also that he is discussing such a private thing publicly, saying, “This is supposed to be such a private conversation that you’re in the bathroom with the fan on and the shower running so nobody hears you talk about it.”
We can’t imagine that Phaedra loved her hubby putting their business out there, either!
