It’s been quite awhile since we last saw actors Martin Lawrence and Kelsey Grammer on the small screen. Both men captured audiences in their respective ‘90s comedies Martin and Frasier and now they intend to do it once more, but this time they’ll be working together. That’s right, guys: Martin and Kelsey are teaming up for a FX new comedy series coming this August!
The upcoming sitcom, Partners, will pair the two TV giants as “Chicago lawyers from very different backgrounds who unexpectedly meet in court as they each face a personal crisis.” The show is set to air Monday, August 4, with two back-to-back episodes between 9 and 10 p.m. for five consecutive weeks.
As a part of FX’s “10/90” model, Partners will have a 10-episode season with the possibility of receiving an additional 90 episodes if it can maintain the designated ratings.
Martin and Kelsey will also executive produce the show, in addition to showrunners Bob Boyett and Robert Horn, as well as exec producers Brian Sher, Stella Bulochnikov, Michael Green, and Sam Maydew.
Partners will also star TV actresses Telma Hopkins (Family Matters, Half & Half), McKaley Miller (Hart of Dixie), as well as film and Broadway stars Rory O’Malley, Edi Patterson, and Danièle Watts.
We don’t know about you, but color us intrigued. We’ve totally missed seeing Martin on TV since the end of Martin in 1997, and with Kelsey (who has produced hits shows like Girlfriends and The Game) on board, we’re sure this show’s going to have the best of both worlds.
Partners airs on Monday, August 4 at 9 p.m. on FX. Will you tune in? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
