The 50-second video shows Ali walking down a dark, city street, saxophone and chatter in he background. Ali is visibly ruffled. She’s wearing the same hoodie from the Season 4 finale, and we’re guessing this is not long after the previous episode ended. This clip is more about mood than plot, as we see Ali walk out in front of a cab in her distracted paranoia and look at the saxophone busker with wariness. Though, her fears don’t seem to be unfounded. As she comes to the end of the street, she sees a person waiting for her, dressed in the oh-so-intimidating black hoodie. He or she certainly looks like “A,” and Ali takes off around the corner, the figure in hot pursuit.
Yikes! It’s good to know Pretty Little Liars hasn’t lost its edge over the summer hiatus. This show hasn’t creeped us out with what is really just a walk down a well-lit, relatively-busy city street in far too long. Kudos goes to Sasha’s performance as an Ali at the end of her rope, and the sound team here for making the sounds of NYC hustle-and-bustle sound ominous. We were excited to see the Season 5 premiere before, but this may have just upped our anticipation even further.
