We first got to know Wyoming native Katie Yeager on MTV's hit docu-drama 16 and Pregnant, where she struggled with her unplanned pregnancy, and tried to make it work with her troubled baby daddy, Joey Maes. This gal was super-lovable from the second her episode aired, so it made perfect sense that MTV invited her to be a cast member on Teen Mom 3, the follow-up to 16 and Pregnant.
Unfortunately, Teen Mom 3 was canceled after just one season, but Katie has stayed in the limelight thanks to her hilarious Twitter feed, adorable daughter, Molli, and the general drama-rama surrounding her life. The problem? Katie is sick and tired of everyone viewing her as a Teen Mom and nothing more!
"I'm no longer a Teen Mom or whatever box you want to put me into," she tweeted on May 30. "My name is Katie. And I'm much more than that."
While Katie's name will always be synonymous with the show that made her famous, she's definitely grown and changed since her days on reality television. For one thing, she's no longer a kid herself — she's a grown woman, and wants the whole world to know it!
"Newsflash: I'm a full grown independent adult who makes her own decisions," she explained via Twitter.
We imagine that Katie (as well as her co-stars) faces a lot of judgment for having had a baby as a teen, but just because she's young, doesn't mean she's immature. This gal is raising her daughter all on her lonesome, is a fabulous mom, and — oh yeah — she also supports herself with a full-time job!
Clearly she's so much more than just a former Teen Mom star. She's Katie freakin' Yeager, y'all!
