Shailene Woodley Addresses Time Magazine Feminism Comments (VIDEO)
Shailene Woodley dropped the “f” word a while back and while it’s not the one that rhymes with “duck,” the 22-year-old was probably saying that one too after the dust-up caused by her comments.
To jog your memory, Shailene told Time she doesn’t identify as a feminist because “I love men, and I think the idea of ‘raise women to power, take the men away from the power’ is never going to work out because you need balance.”
That comment riled a few people (to put it mildly) so when Shailene stopped by Entertainment Weekly Radio’s Women on Pop, she took the opportunity to clarify exactly what she meant, saying the journalist “decided to take what I said and cut things together in order to get her point across.”
“For me, the big thing in life is about sisterhood and brotherhood,” she added. “Bringing sisters together and supporting one another … What I found so funny and so sad about that article is that I talked about that the entire time. Nothing is going to change in this world until women start loving other women. I am so lucky ... I have the best sisters in my life. The best.”
Sisters or brothers, we can totally get onboard with Shailene’s policy of spreading the love. Anytime you want to hang out with us and chat modern day society, just say the word, girl!
