The Walking Dead: Chandler Riggs on His Toughest Scene, Death He Mourned Most

Carl Grimes has been through a lot after four seasons of The Walking Dead, which means actor Chandler Riggs has been through a lot, too.

He went from the emotion of reuniting with his dad in Season 1 to rebelling in Season 2, getting shot by Otis, putting his buddy Shane (Jon Bernthal) down, killing the Woodbury kid, mourning the presumed death of Judith, raging at Rick (Andrew Lincoln), bonding with Michonne (Danai Gurira), and almost getting raped in the Season 4 finale.

But when asked to name his hardest scene to shoot, he answered, “304.” As you probably remember, Season 3, Episode 4 was “Killer Within,” the episode where Lori Grimes (Sarah Wayne Callies) died and Carl had to shoot his mom before she reanimated.

On a similar note, when asked whose TWD death he mourned over most, he answered, “sarah's death for sure.”

Carl misses his mama! Do you remember Lori’s powerful goodbye speech to her son in that episode?

Lori: “You promise me you’ll always do what’s right. It’s so easy to do the wrong thing in this world. So if it feels wrong, don’t do it, all right? If it feels easy, don’t do it. Don’t let the world spoil you. You’re so good. My sweet boy. The best thing I ever did. I love you.”

Sniff! Carl certainly doesn’t see himself as a “sweet boy” at this point, but you can’t accuse the kid of taking the easy way out of anything. He’s a tough sonofab----.

The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres in October on AMC.
