UPDATE: AMC revealed that The Walking Dead Season 5 trailer will be released on Friday, July 25, during San Diego Comic-Con. The panel will be held from 12:20-1:20 PT/3:20-4:20 ET, so that should be around when we get the trailer. Exciting!
We got the first photo of The Walking Dead Season 5 several weeks ago, which means our timeline of events is right on schedule, but when can we expect the first trailer of the upcoming season to make its grand debut?
According to a tweet sent out on May 30 from @Walking_News — an unofficial TWD news account — the first Season 5 trailer is expected to be released sometime between July 23 and July 27. If you recall, last season’s first trailer debuted at San Diego Comic Con on July 18, right in the middle of all of the fun.
Comic Con 2014 is scheduled from July 24-27, with a preview night on July 23, so the dates from @Walking_News make perfect sense assuming the Powers That Be are following the same schedule this time around. Granted, we didn’t really learn anything new here, but hearing that another outlet has reported those dates has us really hankering for a glimpse of Season 5.
Still, we would be remiss not to mention that @Walking_News is an unofficial TWD-related account, meaning it’s not in any way affiliated with AMC, so we should take their window of dates with a grain of salt even if it does mimc last year’s pattern.
On the brightside, if our proposed timeline of events is accurate, then we can expect to see a behind the scenes of Season 5 production video this month and we might get a title for Season 5, Episode 1 early next month. Hey, it’s not a premiere, but we’ll take what we can get!
Do you think the first trailer for TWD Season 5 will be released at Comic Con 2014 sometime between July 23 and July 27, or are we jumping the gun? Feel free to share your own thoughts and theories below!
The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres in October 2014 on AMC.
