Bachelorette 2014 Episode 5: Twitter Reacts To Rumored Racist Comments
Tonight’s episode of The Bachelorette was chock full of drama between the menfolk. But the most shocking moment of all was when Pantsapreneur JJ O’Brien told cookie monster Marquel Martin that Andrew Poole had referred to him and former contestant Ron Worrell as “the blackies.” Go ahead, we’ll wait while you pick your jaw up off the floor.
Twitter users jumped on the comment, with pretty much everyone on the social media site shocked he’d drop such offensive words. But Mr. Drew was not the only one who felt the backlash. Several peeps attacked JJ, feeling like the stringbean was just needlessly stirring up drama. After all, it’s been how many weeks since the alleged name calling happened and JJ’s just bringing it up now? Kinda like he waited a week to tell Josh Murray about Andrew supposedly getting digits off a waitress.
Marquel, of course, was at the center of a Twitter “we heart you Marquel” fest. When Mr. Cookie said it bothered him that being black is the first thing people see about him, Twitter nation mostly responded with nah, Marquel, the first thing we noticed was you’re hot. Yep, that’s what we saw too. Oh, and everyone thought he handled the “duel” with Andrew like a true gent.
So here, for better or worse, is a round-up of tweets about Andrew’s alleged comment.
