Bachelor in Paradise Scoop: The First Cut, a Growing Feud, and an Early Exit? Exclusive
If there’s one thing ABC has done a superb job of this year, it’s keeping the details of Bachelor in Paradise under wraps. Contestants signed up for the show not having a clue what to expect, and fans have been in the dark for so long that some have given up hope of ever knowing. But Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with a show insider for a little scoop on what to expect when the show premieres on August 4.
Although we had originally heard that the show is more about love than competition, that doesn’t mean it’ll be the easy, breezy paradise some might expect. Rather, there is at least one aspect of Bachelor Pad they’ve carried over to Mexico: rose ceremonies. “It’s just like Bachelor Pad, because there’s only so many roses, and people get kicked off if they don’t get one,” we’re told.
The first week, the men had control of the flowers, with each guy getting a chance to save a girl with his pick. At the end of night one, two girls remained, and Ben Scott gave out the final rose to Sarah Herron, sending fellow Season 17 Bachelor babe Daniella McBride packing. On Episode 2, it stands to reason, it’ll be the girls picking the fortunes of their dudes.
What would a Bachelor franchise show be without a date card? We know at least one intern would be out of a scrawling job, so we’re happy to hear that the beloved slips of paper will make an appearance. It’s still a little fuzzy how it works, but it sounds like they take turns picking members of the opposite sex for a little fun 1-on-1 time. The first girl to get the card? Season 18 runner-up Clare Crawley.
“Clare got the date card and really wanted to pick Graham Bunn,” the insider tells us, “but when she told the girls that’s who she was going to choose, AshLee Frazier started crying and begged her not to.” Instead, Clare picked Season 9 barely-on-air fella Robert Graham — and things must’ve gone well, since she’s seen making out with him in the first promo! That could also explain why Capital L seems to be blowing up at No-I in the clip…
Rumor has it that at least one person packs up and leaves on their own accord. Though we don’t know who that person is, we’re going to put our money on Lacy Faddoul. The Season 18 gal left the first night of Juan Pablo’s reign and tweeted all season about the lascivious goings-on in Bachelorville. We have no idea why she decided to go on such a hookup-based show, but she did, and perhaps that decision didn’t stick?
We’ll fill you in on even more secret details when the time comes. In the meantime, hit the comments and dish on what you’re looking forward to most when Bachelor in Paradise premieres on Monday, August 4 at 8 p.m. ET/PT!
