The Walking Dead

Scott Wilson on “Terrific” Lauren Cohan, Emily Kinney: “I Try to Learn From Them”

Sniff. The poor Greene family. They lost a bunch of people back on the farm, but managed to stay strong until halfway through The Walking Dead Season 4. Then Hershel Greene (Scott Wilson) lost his laahhfe in Episode 8, and Beth Greene (Emily Kinney) and Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan) have yet to see each other since that prison battle.

Scott returned for the Season 4 finale flashback, and even though it was past-tense for the Greene family, it was a chance for Scott to reunite with his TV daughters. Scott recently had a nice long interview with Gold Derby and he was asked about working with Lauren Cohan and Emily Kinney from Seasons 2-4. Did he give them any fatherly acting advice?

"Oh, they're just terrific,” Scott said. “I try to learn from them. I have a very warm spot in my heart for them. It was totally fun working with them.” He said he’s sure those relationships will continue, and he just enjoyed a mini reunion with Lauren at the Spike TV Guys’ Choice Awards. And, as Scott added to Gold Derby, “It's a small world, we may work together on something else, who knows."

However, don’t expect that something else to be TWD Season 5.

"I don't anticipate being back,” Scott said. “It was fun while it lasted. And it really was fun. I've been doing this a long time and to be involved in something that was so much fun at this point in my career is really rewarding."

Scott is 72, if you’re keeping score, and we can certainly believe he had a great time on TWD, especially in Season 4. Scott said he liked how Hershel was proactive instead of reactive this year, and he took a leadership role at the prison in battling the deadly flu.

And if you were wondering if he kept Hershel’s zombie head, the answer is ... yes! "I have it in a trash bag in the closet." Pity anyone who stumbles on that bag accidentally, thinking it’s old clothes. Watch more of Scott’s interview below. Try not to mind the echo…

The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres in October on AMC.
