Celebrity Deaths

Bobby Womack, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Singer, Dead at 70

Sad news today out of the music world. Legendary soul singer Bobby Womack has died. The Wrap is reporting that his record company, XL Recordings, has confirmed the singer's death and that the cause of death is currently unknown.

Bobby's seven-decade career included several popular collaborations, including the 80's hit "If You Think You're Lonely Now."

Bobby's career began in the 60's when he started out as the lead singer of his family band The Valentinos — which led him to be discovered by Sam Cooke. Bobby then started performing as Sam's backing guitarist.

After Sam died, Bobby married his widow, Barbara Campbell, and found himself in a bit of a scandal.

Flash forward to the 1970's when Bobby found his biggest commercials success when he released back - to - back albums. He stumbled a bit in the 80's when he struggled with substance abuse, but later kicked the problem and made a big comeback in the 90s.

Bobby was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009.

We will miss you and cherish your soulful music, Bobby!
