In the books, Jaime and Cersei's (Lena Headey) relationship heads south after he releases Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) (though Cersei doesn’t know he released Tyrion). The reason for this is that Tyrion tells Jaime that Cersei was unfaithful to him, but the show cut this part out of the story. Jaime spends the rest of his time in the books wandering around the Riverlands, trying to end the war, and trying to right the wrongs that he’s committed.
Eventually, Brienne (Gwendoline Christie) comes to him with a lie, saying he needs to help her rescue Sansa from the Hound. In actuality, Brienne is taking Jaime to the resurrected Cat Stark, Lady Stoneheart, for a likely execution. Many fans of the books believe that either Jaime or Brienne will perish in the meeting with Stoneheart, but now that it sounds like Stoneheart will be left out of the series, we guess things will have to play out differently on screen.
There are rumors that Jaime will be traveling to Dorne in Season 5, which, if true, means that show is completely altering Jaime’s storyline for next season. Give the Lady Stoneheart revelation, it seems clear that Jaime is going to take a very different path than in the books.
If this is the case, he could die next season for all we know. Maybe he dies early in The Winds of Winter and the show is jumping the gun, like they did with Jojen Reed’s death in Season 4. There is also a rumor that one of the Sand Snakes, Obara Sand, fights a series regular. Might this be Jaime? Might she even kill him?
Our gut tells us Jaime lives to see Season 6, but the show is more different than the show than ever, and that has us a little worried about the Kingslayer’s fate.
