News their relationship had run aground broke back in early May, with Page Six reporting the 47-year-old Sherri had confided in friends that she and her husband of nearly three years were done. Now Lamar wants full custody of his and Sherri’s unborn child. The little one is due via surrogate any day now (July 28, we heard) and unfortunately, his or her welcome will likely be ensnared in legal proceedings.
Entertainment Tonight caught up with Lamar outside of the courthouse after his latest custody hearing. He tells the outlet he’s “definitely” excited to become a father. “It’ll be my firstborn. I’ve been waiting 44 years so I’m happy, very happy,” he tells cameras.
Sherri has one child from her first marriage to Jeff Tarpley, who has his own lawsuit out right now against his one-time wife. In mid-May he requested full physical custody of their 9-year-old son, Jeffrey, Jr., claiming Sherri’s busy schedule kept her from properly caring for Junior.
Lamar wasn’t asked about those other legal woes of his ex, but the reporter did get in a quick question about what he makes of Sherri’s upcoming departure from The View. You’ll have to watch the video above to get his view on that particular heated topic.
