When FOX made the heartbreaking announcement several months ago that they were holding Glee’s sixth and final season for a midseason debut, we pretty much knew that not only would we be seeing our favorite characters again much later than normal, but we’d also be seeing far less of them.
For weeks now we’ve been speculating when Season 6 will air and how many episodes it would have, and now we’re happy to say we have an answer to at least one of those questions. According to TVLine, Ryan Murphy’s dramedy is slated to have a 13-episode final season. That's less than the traditional 22-episode order but still perfectly respectable. We don’t have a midseason premiere date for the show just yet; we can only hope that’s forthcoming.
Lea Michele (Rachel) had previously said production on Season 6 was slated to begin later this month, but after hearing murmurs it had been delayed, Lea’s co-star, Chris Colfer (Kurt), confirmed as much recently when he said shooting was pushed back to start in “September sometime”.
As for what the show’s last season will entail, Ryan previously told TVLine the show will go back “to its roots.” “The last season is really about the importance of arts education in our high schools… I think people will like it,” he continued.
We don’t know what’s next for Rachel, Kurt, and the gang, but we do know that Santana (Naya Rivera) will be back!
Are you relieved Glee got a 13-episode final season, or is this news just depressing? Sound off below!
