Say what, you ask? The music Whitney made famous will, obviously, appear in the Lifetime movie (this is a movie about Whitney Houston, after all) but they won’t be the pop diva’s recordings. That responsibility will instead fall to R&B singer Deborah Cox. The reason? Blame the law.
A Lifetime rep tells E! Online “music rights and clearances are still being worked out,” but no matter what Deborah is slated to provide any Whitney songs featured in the final cut. While she may not be the icon herself, Deborah’s still got plenty of accolades to her name (hear her for yourself by watching the video above).
The Canadian songstress has won multiple Juno Awards (our northern neighbor’s highest musical honor) and is no stranger to the top of the pop charts. Still, try explaining that to the hordes of Whitney fans out there we know will be angered by this latest update from the set.
