Todd Tucker Details How He Got Started in the Entertainment Industry
We may know Todd Tucker best as Kandi Burruss’ supportive husband and Mama Joyce’s favorite sparring partner, but off-screen, Todd is also a successful TV producer with a long list of impressive credits under his belt.
In addition to working as a line producer on Real Housewives of Atlanta, where he was first introduced to Kandi, Todd has been working on everything from music videos to new TV projects.
While it may seem like hard world to break into, Todd reveals how his dedication to his craft helped him get where he is today.
He tells Black Enterprise of his humble beginnings in the business, “I first got into the industry through music videos. A producer buddy of mine out in Los Angeles gave me my first shot, so I took it and made the most of it … I kept up with the music video scene eventually becoming a production manager working with everybody from Kelly Clarkson and Busta Rhymes to Sting.”
Although Todd admits that he started in the industry with no formal training, he quickly moved up the ranks by demonstrating his work ethic and learning as much as he could from his colleagues.
“Regardless of your learning experience (formal or informal) you still have to possess the same qualities to succeed,” says Todd. “Success does not happen overnight. Humble yourself, be ready to grind and work so hard that you make them feel like they can’t do it without you.”
