Katy Perry Performs At The White House And Brings Her Republican Mom
Perks of being Katy Perry: You get invited to perform at really cool places. Like the White House, where Katy served as the night’s entertainment at Thursday night’s event honoring the 46th anniversary of the Special Olympics.
And although Katy has said in the past that she wouldn’t bring her conservative mom to see Obama because she didn’t vote for him, it sounds like she’s changed her mind! Mama Perry was in attendance to see her daughter shine, and even got to meet the president. Um, it must be amazing to have a famous kid!
“We have just one of my favorite people performing tonight — Katy Perry,” Obama said when he introduced the “This Is How We Do” singer, according to E! News. “We are so grateful to her.”
“I love Katy Perry,” POTUS gushed. “She is just a wonderful person. I’ve just met her mom and now I know why she is such a wonderful person, but I just want everyone to know she is on tour right now and so for her to take time out to do this is really special, and so we really want to say thank you to her for doing this.”
There is no recommendation like one that comes from the leader of the free world, huh? Maybe art will eventually imitate life and Katy will perform for Fitz on Scandal? We can dream! And besides, it sounds like Obama and Katy’s mom got along well, despite their political differences. Ahh, peace and harmony.
Katy wasn’t the only celeb in attendance that night — Stevie Wonder, Andy Roddick, and Brooklyn Decker were also there to celebrate Special Olympics founder Eunice Shriver. Guess our invite got lost in the mail?
