Game of Thrones Season 5: For the First Time, Arya Believes She’ll Be Fine
Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) has had a rough go of it over the course of Game of Thrones’ first four seasons. She witnessed her father’s execution, saw several of her friends murdered, was kidnapped by enemy forces and outlaws, was captured by her mortal enemy, and just missed out on seeing her mother and brother one last time before they, too, were killed.
Now, after boarding a ship to Braavos in the final scene of Season 4, actress Maisie Williams, who portrays Arya, believes things are finally looking up for her character in Season 5.
“I think she’s going to be fine,” Maisie tells TVLine. “And I think, for the first time ever, she actually believes she’s going to be fine. It’s refreshing to me; this girl’s been pulled left and right by people who’ve been telling her what she’s going to do with her life, and she’s sick of it. She knows this world, she knows who to trust and she’s ready to go off on her own.”
While Arya has certainly proven she can take care of herself, we don’t really know that she’s going to be fine. She is, after all, still a young girl who’s on her own in a strange land, but if Maisie says she’s going to be all right, then we’ll just have to take her word for it!
