Queen Bey reportedly broke down on-stage on Sunday (August 3) during the second of two performances at the Pasadena Rose Bowl near the end of her On the Run tour with hubby Jay Z. According to Radar Online, Beyoncé got overly emotional during a performance of her accusatory track “Resentment.” The gossip site suggests that Bey — while wearing a bridal veil for the performance — became so overwhelmed with emotion, she broke down on stage.
“She looked like she had been crying from the time the concert began,” an anonymous eyewitness tells Radar. “Her eyes were really glassy and red, and it looked like she was just going through the motions on stage.”
The song follows a relationship torn apart by infidelity. The “Flawless” singer reportedly started to break down while singing, “I know she was attractive but I was here first,” The anonymous eyewitness adds that, “Not long after, she stopped singing and seemed overcome with emotion. The camera was cut in tight so you could literally see her eyes welling up before she closed them and attempted to collect herself.”
This news comes just days after reports surfaced that Jay Z and Beyonce are staying in separate hotels during their shared On the Run tour. Apparently, the situation has gotten so out of hand, that Jay and Bey had to have an emergency meeting with their lawyers. According to the New York Post's Page Six, Bey, Jay, concert promoter Live Nation, HBO and at least four lawyers attended the meeting to discuss the couple’s union, and all the very public rumors about their potential split. The Post alleges that the executives at the meeting wanted to issue a statement of some kind, but the couple said no because they couldn't agree on what to say.
Of course, this isn’t the first time Beyoncé has gotten emotional during a performance. She’s at the top of her game because she leaves everything on the stage; that’s what makes Bey such a magnetic performer. Back in March, Beyoncé broke down on stage during her final Mrs Carter Show concert.
So is Beyoncé buckling under the pressure of these divorce rumors? Or is she just getting emotional while singing an emotional song? Regardless of whether Beyoncé was really tearing up on that stage — after all, we wouldn’t be surprised if all of this drama was being conceived by Jay and Bey themselves (#publicitystunt) — with only a handful of On the Run shows left, it won’t be long until we have our answer.
