With the news Glee is adding five new characters for its sixth and final season, we’re left wondering how many of the show’s original cast members will be back for one last hurrah. For example, can we expect to see more of Harry Shum Jr. (Mike Chang)? Read on to find out!
In fact, Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy has said he’ll invite any and all cast members (new or old) back for the show’s final season and apparently he “definitely” wants to see Dianna Agron (Quinn) and Jayma Mays (Emma Pillsbury) reprise their respective roles. But it sounds like the showrunner extraordinaire hasn’t contacted Harry. What gives?
Harry spilled the (sad) beans during a recent RedditAMA when he was asked if he will be part of the FOX show’s final season. “Not sure, that's up to Ryan Murphy,” Harry said. “Haven't received a call from him.”
OK, so silence on Ryan’s part isn’t a great sign for Harry/Mike, but we should note that it’s clear the course of the abbreviated final season is still being teased out. If they just announced five new additions today, then surely there’s still time for Harry to come back before the show goes off the air for good, right?
Even though we’d love to see Harry back on Glee, he’ll certainly be busy in the coming months as he is a judge on Fake Offand just snagged a major part in the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon sequel.
