Grey’s Anatomy Season 11: Geena Davis to Play a Surgeon in Major Arc
The Grey's Anatomy producers and casting agents must be popping the champagne! They've just cast Academy Award winner Geena Davis for Season 11, as TVLinereports.
All we know about the 58-year-old actress's role so far is that she's playing a Grey Sloan Memorial surgeon as part of a major arc.
Geena is perhaps best known for her roles as ghost Barbara in Beetlejuice, fugitive Thelma in Thelma & Louise, and catcher Dottie in A League of Their Own. She won her Oscar for her role in The Accidental Tourist — and she also had memorable roles in The Fly,The Long Kiss Goodnight, and the Stuart Little series.
On the small screen, Genna starred in sitcom The Geena Davis Show in 2000 and played the president in Commander in Chief in 2005 — both shows airing on ABC. The latter role won her a Golden Globe.
This Massachusetts native has three kids with her husband of nearly 13 years, Reza Jarrahy — and she was previously married to Jeff Goldblum.
An accomplished archer, Geena almost made it to the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney.
She also established the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media in 2007.
