Neil Patrick Harris on Having Kids: It Made Me Re-Fall in Love With David Burtka
If you haven’t noticed, Neil Patrick Harris and Justin Burtka’s twins, Harper and Gideon, are probably two of the cutest kids to hit up this side of Hollywood. If you need proof, just trawl Neil’s personal Instagram account, and there you’ll see so much adorable that you won’t be able to double-tap it all.
In fact, the couple’s twins have done more than just brighten up our Insta feeds. In the September issue of Glamour, the Hedwig and the Angry Inch Broadway star opened up about how becoming a father to their twins rejuvenated his relationship with his fiancé, David.
“Honeymoon phases end. They just do. We’re animals, and animals aren’t inclined to copulate with just each other for the rest of their lives. So here’s a challenge: How do you keep redefining your relationship? I think you have to find new elements that turn you on, and not only sexually,” Neil explains to Glamourmagazine.
“Having kids was one of those great moments for me. Watching David become another level of person, mastering this other domain, made me look at him with a whole other set of appreciative eyes. That sort of made me re-fall in love with him,” he added.
“That’s another important thing to realize. Everyone falls out of love with everything. You fall out of love with your house. You fall out of love with your job. You just have to figure out ways to keep [the love] alive.” How cute!
NPH and David’s twins were born via surrogate back in October of 2010, and given how much these two love being parents, we wouldn’t be surprised if they welcomed one or more kiddies to their growing brood!
