If you’re anything like us, the Pretty Little Liarswithdrawal is already setting in. It’s been a week since the Season 5 summer finale aired, and the symptoms are already starting to show:rewatching Pretty Little Liars, scrolling aimlessly through the #PLLTheory tag on Tumblr and Twitter for hours on end, and side-eyeing our neighbors to figure out who the “A” in our life might be. Basically, we need more PLL! Like, now.
When does Season 5 return? Here is the lowdown on what we have to look forward to in the coming months.
The Halloween fan appreciation special. Well, it may not be a new episode, per se, but PLL will be breaking its content fast with a “fan appreciation special” during ABC Family’s “13 Nights of Halloween.” And we’ll totally take it. The hour-long event airs on October 21, and will bring the cast together “to talk about the most unforgettable moments on the show thus far and to answer fans' burning questions.”
You can submit your questions on the PLL Facebook page or by using the hashtag #PLLHalloween. Where would we even start?
The Christmas special. This year, we’ll be having ourselves a Pretty Little Christmas because PLL is airing its first Christmas episode! In lieu of a Halloween episode, Marlene King and company are conquering a whole new holiday season with suspense and horror.
We actually already know a lot about the holiday episode, “How the ‘A’ Stole Christmas.” Marlene wrote and directed it, at least one person will be sporting Santa-themed boxers, and a new queen will be born. Best of all? Mona will be acting as the Ghost of Christmas Past, Present, and Future for Alison. Genius.
Season 5B. We won’t have to wait very long between the Christmas episode and the start of the winter season. Season 5B premieres on January 1 with Season 5, Episode 14: “Through A Glass, Darkly.” Best title ever, no?
Here’s everything we know so far about the rest of PLL Season 5. The second half of the season will be driven by the question: “What happened to Mona?” Apparently, Mona left clues for the Liars, and will be appearing in flashbacks.
Beyond. Pretty Little Liars has already been renewed for a sixth and seventh season, which means we have so much more Rosewood drama to come. We’re interested to see what this will look like given that Marlene said the timeline will be picking up right after the Season 5 Christmas special. Will the Liars graduate from high school by the end of Season 5? Either way, what will 50 more episodes of this show past Season 5 look like?
