Neil Patrick Harris Reveals Why He Passed on ‘American Horror Story’ Role

Apparently, the first season of American Horror Story could have been even more legen...wait for it...dary! Neil Patrick Harris and his husband, David Burtka, were reportedly offered the roles of the gay couple stuck in Murder House (Zachary Quinto and Teddy Sears eventually got the parts), but they turned it down!

So why didn't Neil and David jump on this opportunity?

Just Jared has all the details!

“The idea was that we would be a gay couple that, as it turns out, were murdered in this house, and our ghosts are around for the thing,” Neil said in an interview with SiriusXM Studio. "“We had just played ourselves as a couple not getting along, and I thought, ‘It just seems weird to do that twice, as individual actors to play a couple that hate each other twice. So I said ‘no,’ that we shouldn’t do it.”

Teddy and Zachary totally nailed those roles back in Season One (and then Zachary gave us the creepy Dr. Thredson in Season Two), but now we can't help but imagine what a Neil and David combo could have looked like! Hey, Ryan Murphy, there's always the next season of American Horror Story...

What do you think about Neil's reasoning not to appear in American Horror Story? Do you think he and David could have rocked those roles, or are you happy Zachary Quinto and Teddy Sears got the parts? Let us know in the comments below!
