At the start of the sneak peek below, Arizona is hovering as Alex is performing an operation on a newborn — and she's providing constant feedback. Perhaps because of that distraction, Alex screws up the procedure.
Then Arizona and Alex have to break the news to the newborn's parents, with Arizona trying to tell them that Alex is very competent.
"Yeah, he's very good," the father says. "He's 'awesome.' We remember. My baby boy's chest has now been cut into twice. So you'll forgive me if I don't share your opinion."
The parents leave in a huff, and Arizona tries tell Alex that she's sorry he's getting all the blame, but he cuts her off.
"I'm sorry," Alex yells. "I'm sorry not telling you this sooner. I never should have let you dictate a procedure I don't believe in. This is my patient, this is my service, this is my NICU. And the last time I checked, I was the attending, and you were a fellow. So stop overstepping and get the hell off my floor now."
Yikes. We're scared of Angry Alex… and a little turned on.
