We were all set to report that Joaquin Phoenix was engaged, but it turns out that the 40-year-old actor's big news was all a big fib. (Yep, he's still a single man. He's still looking for his Her.)
It all started when Joaquin appeared on the Late Show With David Letterman last night (December 8) and announced that he had popped the question to a yoga instructor, even demonstrating some yoga moves, like one he called the " harnessing of the hog."
"And she's thrusting," he explain. "And I go, 'Oh, stop! My back pain!' And she goes, 'No, it’s emotional back pain.'"
Then he dropped the bomb: "I think she's the one. I proposed to her and she said yes. If everything works out… So far, so good."
But he recanted his story this morning (December 9) on Good Morning America: "I think my life's so boring, and it seemed like something exciting to talk about, and I wanted the audience to like me, and they really like people that are getting married … I can get engaged again, if you like."
It's not the first time Joaquin has pranked us: In 2010, he ended a year-and-a-half stint of erratic behavior (and sporadic rapping) by telling David Letterman that it was for the mockumentary called I'm Still Here, which came out later that year.
That Joaquin — what a prankster!
