What did you think of Ashley’s hookup with Jason: yay or nay?
Yay — These two have a genuine connection. Just because we didn’t see this coming, doesn’t mean the Ashley/Jason hookup didn’t feel organic. In fact, it was kind of a pleasant surprise in the sense that PLL surprised us about something that didn’t feel convoluted, but rather emotionally gratifying. These two have both been through a lot in the past few years. They feel like outsiders in their own families at times because of the secrets their respective family members keep from them. Ashley is dreading Hanna’s departure to college. Jason is living out of a hotel because his own father threw him out of his house for telling the truth. He’s still grieving over the death of his mother, and is more confused than ever about his sister’s morality.
We’re also potentially on board with this hookup because it is a reversal of the common older man/younger women thing that PLL has thrown at us again and again. And, unlike many of those scenarios — i.e. Ezra and Aria or Ali — Jason and Ashley are both consenting adults. Whatever happens with these two, we hope PLL doesn’t treat Jashley as a scandal because of the age gap.
Nay — Ashley is still with Pastor Ted! On the other hand, just because these two share a connection doesn’t mean this is the best thing ever. The biggest reason we see for not being cool with this latest plot development is the fact that Ashley Marin is still dating Pastor Ted — sweet, caring, adorable Pastor Ted. We really hope Ashley tells Ted about her indiscretion, especially because Hanna knows and this puts her in a hella awkward spot.
Other reasons to “nay” this latest development? The fact that Jason and Ashley are currently working together, and this could make things very awkward. Plus, the fact that Jason once had dozens of photos of Aria hung up in a shed, and is approaching her for “a bite” in this promo for tonight’s episode. And those are just the reasons off the top of our head!
