Ariel Camacho, a 22-Year-Old Mexican Singer, Dead in Car Accident
The music world has suffered the loss of a young talent. According to Billboard, 22-year-old Mexican singer-songwriter Ariel Camacho died in a car crash in Sinaloa, the state he’s from, on Wednesday (February 25).
Ariel was signed to DEL Records and had been on tour promoting the deluxe version of his first album with the label, El Karma, when he was involved in an accident on the highway.
“My heart is broken by the loss of Ariel Camacho,” Angel Del Villar, president and founder of DEL Records, told Billboard in a statement. “I knew he was going to transform the genre in Mexico and the United States. Millions of people would have become fans and would have gotten to know the man I did.”
Ariel, born Jose Ariel Camacho Barraza, was known for many things including his guitar skills, his vocals, and the way his acoustic songs spoke to his Mexican music fans. He garnered quite the following on YouTube — move over, Justin Bieber — as well as live shows before making it big. El Karma was recorded with his band Los Plebes del Rancho.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ariel’s family and friends at this time.
