Once Upon a Time Alum Tom Ellis Books Lead Role on Fox’s Lucifer Pilot
Tom Ellis, we barely knew thee on Once Upon a Time. The Welsh actor portrayed Robin Hood in only one episode — Season 2, Episode 19 (“Lacey”) — and the role has since been recast for Sean Maguire, but that doesn’t mean we’re not thrilled to see him book a new role on TV. According to TVLine, Tom is the lead on Fox’s new pilot, Lucifer.
That’s right, the 36-year-old will be playing the titular role of Lucifer, the Lord of Hell, in this DC Comics series — which sounds super awesome and should totally get picked up.
On this show, Lucifer has given up his throne in the underworld kingdom in order to move to Los Angeles (where else?) in order to pursue his new passion: helping the Los Angeles Police Department catch and punish criminals. Basically he’ll make it Hell on Earth for these unlucky perpetrators.
In addition to his role as the first Robin Hood on Once, Tom has also starred on USA Network’s medical series Rush.
Lucifer’s pilot was written by Californication creator Tom Kapinos who will executive produce the series along with Jerry Bruckheimer Television as well as Sleepy Hollow executive producer Len Wiseman — who will also be directing the pilot.
All we need now is an official order from Fox for this series, and we’ll see Tom on the tube again very soon!

Once Upon a Time returns on March 1 and airs Sunday nights at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
