Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) is in full-on freak-out mode in this sneak peek from the Grey's Anatomy installment airing this Thursday, March 5 — Season 11, Episode 14: "The Distance." We've never seen her more scared.
As the scene starts, Richard (James Pickens Jr.) enters the OR where Amelia and Stephanie (Jerrika Hinton) are operating on Nicole (Geena Davis) — except the operation seems to be at a standstill.
"I thought I could help," he offers. "Maybe be a sounding board. We could work through whatever it is that you're stuck on."
Amelia asks her nurses to kill the intercom so that all the doctors watching in the gallery — Maggie (Kelly McCreary), Meredith (Ellen Pompeo), April (Sarah Drew), Jackson (Jesse Williams), and Owen (Kevin McKidd) — can't hear her. She even asks Stephanie to step out of earshot.
That's when she confides in Richard, and her words are chilling.
"You could be a big help. I need you to call my brother. Tell him he needs to get on a plane. He's in D.C., so if he goes now, he could be here in — what — six hours, seven."
"I'm not sure if that's the best idea," Richard cautions.
"I'm in over my head. I made a mistake. I took an impossible task, and my hubris is going to kill her. Please. Get him on the phone. Get him on a plane. Get him here. Now."
Grey's Anatomy Season 11, Episode 14 — "The Distance" — airs this Thursday, March 5, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
