Derek Dies in Grey’s Anatomy

We had a feeling it was coming, but we had no idea how it would affect us when it actually happened. On tonight’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy Season 11, Episode 21: “How to Save a Life” — we bid a permanent farewell to one of our favorite doctors, Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey).

So how did it happen? After Derek helped people who got into a seriously scary car wreck in the road in front of him, he got back into his car to drive away and was hit by a semi. It was a total shocker moment, and it was even worse when the ambulance took him to a hospital that wasn’t Grey Sloan Memorial, and they totally screwed up his treatment.

Unfortunately, the doctors didn’t give him a head CT when he needed one, and that resulted in him being declared brain dead. Meredith was given the horrible task of signing off on shutting his machines off, and that was that.

It’s hard to believe that we’ll never see Derek scrub in again. Shonda Rhimes, why do you do this to us?! If you need us, we’ll be over here, in shock, with our tissues. Will someone please pass us the tequila?

Are you shocked that Derek died, or did you totally see it coming? Hit the comments and let us know what you think!
