Orange Is the New Black Gets Four Emmy Nominations, Cast Reacts
Congrats to the Litchfield crew! Orange Is the New Black got four nominations for the 67th Emmy Awards. Here’s the scoop:
The show itself was nominated for Outstanding Drama Series.
Uzo Aduba was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for playing Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren.
Pablo Schreiber was nominated for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his role as George “Pornstache” Mendez.
Casting Director Jennifer Euston was nominated for Outstanding Casting in a Drama Series.
The drama nod is a real coup, considering the Netflix hit was forced out of its usual comedy categories for having episodes longer than 30 minutes, per the Academy’s new rules.
Still, it faces stiff competition, and will be duking it out with Better Call Saul, Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones, Homeland, House of Cards, and Mad Men.
But its new place amongst the dramas might have cost it nods it would have received otherwise. Last year, in the comedy categories, the show got 12 nominations, more than any other comedy.
Nevertheless, the cast and crew couldn’t contain their joy on Twitter. Check out their reactions below:
