Sarah Hyland was forced to skip out on the 2017 Screen Actors Guild Awards due to an ongoing health battle.

The Modern Family star, who has been open about her struggles with kidney dysplasia, revealed she wasn’t going to be able to make the show just hours before it was scheduled to start.

“Sad to say I will not be attending the SAG awards today for some health reasons,” she shared on Instagram Sunday, January 29 with a picture of herself kissing boyfriend Dom Sherwood.

“So I leave you all with an adorable picture from last years @sagawards. Ps. You know my dress was gonna be turnt too.”

The brunette beauty and her boyfriend attended the 2017 Golden Globes a few weeks ago, which was her last public event.

Though the hit ABC show didn’t win for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series — that award went to Orange Is the New Black — the cast has won four times before.

The 26-year-old was diagnosed with her health condition at the age of 9 and received a kidney transplant in April 2012.

In fact her father, Edward James Hyland, was her organ donor.

The actress’s illness sadly affects her filming and forces her to make adjustments while on set.

“I try and make it so that Haley is always sitting down. If you notice, she’s always sitting down a lot … or leaning and texting,” she told Good Morning America back in 2012.

Thankfully her health battles didn’t stop her from achieving her dreams.

“I was born with so many health issues that doctors told my mother I would never have a normal life,” she told Seventeen in 2015.

“And she said, ‘You’re right, she won’t – but it won’t be because of her health.’”

While we missed seeing Sarah at the 2017 SAG Awards, we hope she is feeling better!
