Rihanna Makes $25,000 Donation After Smashing LAPD Commission President’s Phone (VIDEO)

Word to the wise: When Rihanna accidentally smashes your phone, she’ll make up for it with a whopper of a donation to your favorite charity.

When LAPD Police Commission President Steve Soboroff asked Rihanna for a selfie when they were seated next to each other at a Clippers NBA Playoff game on May 9, she happily agreed — and then proceeded to drop his phone on the floor, totally shattering Steve’s screen.

If you cringed just reading that, you’re not alone.

To her credit, RiRi did apologize later on Twitter… and then she apologized again, but this time, with cash. According to Us Weekly, Rihanna has made a $25,000 donation to Steve’s foundation for LA Police to make good on her accident, and we’re assuming that’s enough to smooth the whole thing over.

Besides, Steve is getting off pretty good after this whole thing. He got Rihanna to sign his broken phone and agree to let him auction it off on eBay — and as of publishing, the highest bid is over $10,000 with more than 24 hours left to go!

Half of the money raised from the phone will go to families of fallen LA officers, and the rest will go straight to the LAPD cadet program, where it will help fund 300 underserved kids attend and graduate the program.

“Thank you Rihanna and all of her wonderful fans who have made this story go viral,” Steve wrote on the auction listing.

Want to get your hands on a phone that Rihanna’s broken? Now might be the only chance ever to make that happen, since we don’t think she’s going to let this happen again.
