3 Reasons Joffrey Needs to Die on Game of Thrones

Show us a person who doesn’t think Joffrey Baratheon (Jack Gleeson) deserves to die on Game of Thrones, and we’ll show you a liar. Joffrey is the worst, and he should totally be the next character to bite the dust on GoT. Here are our reasons why.

The way he’s treated Sansa. When you stop and think of all the ways Joffrey’s tormented Sansa, it will make your head spin. Before he was even king, his lie got Sansa’s direwolf killed. He had Sansa stripped and beaten because of Robb Stark’s revolt. He had Ned Stark executed in front of Sansa, and then later forced her to look at her father’s head on a spike. At her wedding, he threatened to rape her. And even now, with their interactions at a minimum, he’s announced plans to serve her her brother’s head at his wedding. Classy guy, that one.

He’s sadistic. You can’t really brush off Joffrey’s behavior as a spoiled kid being mischievous, the guy’s a psychopath. Anyone who forces prostitutes to beat each other at the end of a crossbow, and then later uses a prostitute for target practice with said crossbow, killing her, is beyond help. He’s got to go.

The Lannisters need to suffer. Even if Joffrey were a decent guy, which he most certainly is not, we’d still kind of be in favor of his being killed off, just so the Lannisters could finally have a loss. The lion family has been on top for too long, and their victories haven’t exactly been honorable (the Red Wedding, tricking Ned Stark into death, arranging Robert Baratheon’s death, etc.). The Lannisters need to find out what it’s like to lose, and maybe the Starks could get some small satisfaction in that. Losing Joffrey would be a great place to start.
