Jonathan may not have had any luck snagging the man of his dreams, Alec Baldwin's Jack Donaghy, on 30 Rock — but the same can't be said for his portrayer, Maulik Pancholy! The 39-year-old actor took to Twitter yesterday, January 9, to announce that he and longtime boyfriend Ryan Corvaia are set to be wed!
He tweeted: "It only took 9 years, but it's official! Just got engaged at the Taj Mahal to Ryan Corvaia! Yeeeessss!"
Maulik has had an eventful year so far — he came out publicly in November in the pages of Out magazine's Out100 feature, which celebrates the hundred "most compelling gay people" of the year.
He's also busy voicing characters on Disney Channel's Phineas and Ferb and Nickelodeon's Sanjay and Craig.
The other lucky groom-to-be, Ryan, is the founder and owner of Dish Food & Events, a New York City-based catering and hospitality company.
The couple had been touring India and protesting the reinstatement of Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code, which criminalizes all sexual activities "against the order of nature," including homosexual unions.
From Maulik's tweet, it seems as though Ryan was the one who did the asking, although it also seems like the proposal wasn't too much of a shock!
Congrats to the soon-to-be newlyweds!
