Jamie Dornan Cast As Christian Grey — 4 Reasons He’s the Perfect Choice!
UPDATE 10/23/13: The wait is over! According to a Variety exclusive from October 23, the former Sheriff Graham has been cast as the new Christian Grey! Below, you'll find several reasons we believe they couldn't have picked a better guy (Sorry, Charlie). According to insiders, Jamie was brought in to do a screen test less than a week ago with Anastasia Steele portrayer Dakota Johnson.
Though Dakota and Charlie were said to have had "tangible chemistry" in their screen read, it's not hard to imagine that Jamie and Dakota steamed up the screen just as well. While on Once Upon a Time, we frequently had the urge to take his gun from the holster. Let's hope he can loosen his belt as the sexy Christian and let law and order go for the role...
Original Story 10/18/13: The neverending debate about who should star as the domineering and seductive Christian Grey in the highly anticipated (or dreaded) Fifty Shades of Grey movie is raging on in the wake of Charlie Hunnam dropping the part. One name that's been tossed around as a contender is Jamie Dornan, AKA Once Upon a Time's dearly departed Sheriff Graham.
While we know some fans are hesitant to see their fave actors take on what's likely to be a rather controversial role, scoring this lead part could be a profile boost for whoever gets the gig, and we'd love to see Jamie become a household name.
So, with that in mind, here are four reasons we think Jamie is perfect for the part.
1. He's got the looks. Christian is that classic tall, dark, and handsome, and Jamie definitely fits the bill; we also think he'd be able to pull off Christian's "copper" hair with the help of a little toner. Christian's "smoldering" grey eyes are also key to his appeal, and Jamie's got a killer set of peepers. Sure, his eyes are blue, but that's what color contacts are for, right?
2. He's got the sex appeal. Anyone who has watched Jamie on Once Upon a Time can attest to the fact that once you see him on screen, you don't ever want him to go away (we miss you Graham!).
3. He can do dark. While Sheriff Graham was mostly a good guy, Jamie also impressed as a serial killer in British show The Fall. We think he'd bring the perfect mix of edgy but still appealing to the part.
4. He's not too famous. For a big role like this, there's a definite plus with going for an actor most of the audience doesn't already strongly associate with one role. While OUAT fans know Jamie as Graham, he'll be a blank slate for the rest of America.
