Pretty Little Liars: 5 New year’s Resolutions Emily Should Make

It’s the turn of the new year, which means the traditional making of resolutions for the year ahead! Perhaps no cast of characters is as in need of a clear cut plan as the targeted teenagers of Pretty Little Liars. With that in mind, here are five resolutions we think Emily Fields (Shay Mitchell) should make for 2014.

Sort out her feelings for Ali

With the return of her former bestie and one-time crush, Alison, from the dead, Emily is set to be uber-confused about, well, everything. She just sorted things out with current love, Paige, deciding that even if they can’t be together in the future they want to be together right now. Will Ali’s return change that? Does Emily want it to? Both questions we think Ems should make a priority of sorting through.

Don’t give up on her dreams

This past half-season was a tough one or Emily, who injured her shoulder in an “A”-related attack, putting her future as a college swimmer in jeopardy. We’re not sure if Emily will ever be able to achieve her dreams as a world-class swimmer, but we don’t think she should give up just yet. Especially if it means “A” has taken this dream from her. Plus, if anyone can come back from this, it’s Emily!

Continue giving back

We really loved that Emily spent a summer building houses for families in need, and we think that Emily loved it, too. She has even considered continuing on with Habitat for Humanity in a longer-term, more intense position. She may do this instead of heading to college next year. Whether Emily decides to go for it or not, we think she should continue giving back. One of our favorite things about this character is that, with everything she has gone through, she is not jaded or defeated.

Trust in her friends

We’re a little nervous that Ali’s miraculous return is going to drive some wedges between our beloved Liars. After all, it’s totally in the former mean girl’s playbook, and we think Emily is especially susceptible to Ali’s manipulations given her feelings for her bestie. Whatever else happens in Emily’s life, we hope that she chooses to trust Aria, Hanna, and Spencer. These girls have been there for one another through everything. Their loving friendship remain our favorite part of this show.

Find “A”

We think all of the Liars should make this a priority (perhaps, Aria especially?) both for their physical and mental well-being. This mysterious bully has terrorized them for far too long, and we think 2014 could be the year they finally catch him. The Liars have learned so much from their past dealings with the people who wish them and their loved ones harm. This year, it ends. And we think Emily is going to be a big part of that. (Because she’s kind of a badass now.)

What do you think Emily’s New Year’s resolutions should be? Sound off in the comments below!
