5 Reasons Terry McDermott Should Have Won The Voice Season 3
The Voicefinished its incredible third season tonight, Dec. 18, and although we're excited for winner Cassadee Pope, we're also bummed that Team Blake's other rocker, Terry McDermott, didn't take home the prize.
Throughout the season, he consistently wowed us with impressive, rockin' performances, and we know this isn't the last we'll see of Terry. Here are our Top 5 reasons he should have won The Voice:
5. He has plenty of experience.
Terry has taken the stage many times before with his former band, Driveblind, and it showed every time he performed on The Voice. He has great control over his voice, commands the stage, and knows what the crowd (and America) wants to see. Even though he didn't win, we have no doubt that he will sell millions of records.
4. The fans love him!
Week after week, Terry was voted into the next rounds by America, and the judges wouldn’t stop singing his praises. Even though the competition is over, we’re sure that trend will continue, with fans buying his albums and tickets to his tours!
Even though Terry is known for singing classic rock songs, he switched up the pace and mood for each performance. While Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’” was a show-stopper, he also slowed things down with Paul McCartney’s “Maybe I’m Amazed” during the knockout rounds. We could go on and on with examples of his fantastic performances, but instead, we'll just say that there’s no question that he's versatile!
2. He makes killer song choices.
OK, so we said this above, but c'mon! From Boston’s “More Than a Feeling” to Foreigner's "I Want to Know What Love Is," Terry knows how to pick a song. Though he won't be performing a lot of covers post-Voice, if he wanted to record a British rock compilation, we'd definitely buy it!
1. He's consistent — and he knows how to rock!
We can’t think of a time when Terry didn’t execute a song perfectly. He wails on the high notes, dips down to the low notes with ease, and knows how to time each verse perfectly. He is a pleasure to listen to, but also has a bit of grit and raw edge in his voice that keeps us on our toes. We can’t get enough!
