Pretty Little Liars: 5 Reasons Why Ali Is The Best Liar

Now that Pretty Little Liars Alison DiLaurentis (Sasha Pieterse) is kinda, sorta back from the dead, we have been seriously thinking about how she ranks amongst the Liars. After all, in many ways, she was the original Liar. Assuming that Ali is alive and kicking, here are five reasons why she is also the best.

She’s the best actual liar.

Sure, the other Liars have gotten pretty darn good at lies of omission, lying to the people they love most about the fact that “A” makes their daily lives a living hell, but Ali is a whole other level of liar. This is a girl who would regularly pretend she was a completely different person called Vivian Darkbloom, and had no problem telling all-out lies to both her parents and friends in order to go away for the weekend with her older boyfriend. Ali doesn’t just tell lies; she breathes them.

She hasn’t forgotten her friends

Another important mark of a Liar in the PLL sense of the word is friendship. The PLLers always have each other’s backs. Though Ali may have been a terrible friend some of the time, she also was there for her friends when they most needed her. Since her alleged death, that has meant saving Em, Spence, Hanna, and Aria from life-threatening situations - even if it meant potentially blowing her own cover. Whatever Ali has done to the other Liars in the past, that has to count for something.

She has a pilot’s license

In terms of general badassery, being a teenaged pilot is pretty darn epic. In the Season 3 finale, Spencer watched Red Coat, who we are relatively sure is Ali, land her own plane, make her way to the Thornhill Lodge, and save the remaining Liars from a fire. Some teenage girls have beat-up used cars and some, apparently, have planes.

She’s has the best hair

It’s a fact that all of the Liars have excellent hair (kudos to the PLL hair people, and to the actresses’ excellent genetic makeup). But, there’s something about Sasha’s head of thick, golden locks that is kind of epic. We’re convinced it is two-fifths of the reason Ali rose to power as Rosewood High’s Queen Bee (the other three-fifths coming from sheer cunning and determination). And if you won’t take our word for it, just ask Keegan Allen (Toby). While doling out cast superlatives, he gave Sasha “Best Hair”: “They all have really nice hair, but I would say Sasha Pieterse has really nice hair. It’s like a big fluff of blonde.” So, there.

She faked her own death

It takes guts, smarts, and commitment to pull of faking one’s death and staying away for two years or so we assume. While the other Liars were studying for tests, hanging with their families, and admittedly, yes dodging “A”’s attacks, Ali was on the run. Even with all of the things that the other Liars have been through, being buried alive probably gives Ali the most cred.
