It’s going to be hard to replace Claire Holt as Rebekah Mikaelson, but if anyone can do the Originals character justice, it’s Maisie Richardson-Sellers. The 21-year-old actress took over Rebekah duty from Claire (at least for now) in The Originals midseason finale, and will be back to play the strong, sassy vampire when the show returns later this month. Here are five things to know about the amazing Maisie!

She will be in the new Star Wars movie. Talk about a killer first role. As much as we love Bex, Maisie’s gig in the new Star Wars movie has got to be the most exciting thing that happened to this actress last year, her first role before landing the Originals gig. Auditioning amongst thousands of other actresses, Maisie landed the role of Korr Sella, who is rumored to be a descendant of Obi Wan Kenobi.

She graduated from Oxford. According to Refinery29.com, Maisie studied anthropology and archaeology at the prestigious British university, landing her Star Wars role fresh out of college. Though those may seem strange majors to make the jump to acting, Maise did theater throughout her time at the university.

She grew up backstage. Not literally. This isn’t some kind of Phantom of the Opera scenario, but the actress did spend a lot of time in the theater growing up. As she described it: “I’ve always done theatre. My parents are both actors, so I kind of grew up backstage.” The actress always assumed her career would center around the London stage. With the Star Wars role, she “thought for the first time that maybe this could be an international career.”

She cares about diversity in Hollywood. Maisie is excited to be a part of the diversification of Hollywood. She told Refinery 29: “There are a lot of strong, powerful female characters with critical views and social impact, especially for women of color, there’s certainly a new awareness of what they can bring to the screen. There’s a diversifying of Hollywood and I hope that continues.” Us too, Maisie.

She hangs with adorable puppies. OK, enough business. Let’s get to the important stuff: like the fact that Maisie appears to have an adorable bulldog puppy. (Or at least spends some quality time with him on Instagram.) His name is Biggie, and he may be the cutest thing we’ve ever seen. Here’s hoping he makes a cameo in either The Originals or Star Wars. Obviously, as a villain. (Darth Biggie?)

Are you as excited to see more of Maisie on The Originals (and in Star Wars) as we are? Sound off in the comments below!

The Originals returns with all-new episodes on January 19 on The CW.
