5 Things to Know About Heather Thomson, the Yummie Addition to Real Housewives of New York
Now that we’ve introduced you to the newest castmates on The Real Housewives of New York Season 5, Aviva Drescher and Carole Radziwill, it’s time to meet Heather Thomson, the third new face on the show. Here are five things to know about the Yummie housewife.
Heather is the founder of Yummie Tummie. As you’ll see in the RHONY Season 5 premiere tonight (June 4), Heather wears her line of shapewear to Sonja Morgan’s townhouse party, and immediately gets compliments. According to the Yummie site, Heather was “disappointed by the shapewear products that existed,” so she “set out to create something sexier, comfier, and, well, ‘yummier.’” She advertises a patented 3-panel system that Heather says adds a “boost of confidence.”
Heather’s son was born with a liver disease. Also mentioned many times on the Season 5 premiere, Heather’s son was born with a life-threatening disease that will apparently affect the rest of his life. The subject turns into a hot topic of contention between Heather and Ramona Singer in the premiere, when the two of them compare horror tales of their children’s respective birth stories.
She has a celeb-studded designer resume. Heather was previously the Design Director for P. Diddy’s clothing line, Sean John, and credits herself “as a major force behind multiple CFDA award nominations.” She also says that she helped launch labels for Beyonce (House of Dereon), and J. Lo.
Heather and Ramona do not get along. In the premiere, Ramona and Heather meet briefly at Sonja’s townhouse party. Heather invites Ramona up to her Yummie offices for a sit-down, just a get-to-know-you kind of meeting. Ramona, in true Ramona fashion, wears sunglasses to the office and doesn’t take them off in reception, or before seeing Heather — she just keeps them on until after they’ve already shook hands. Then, when Ramona proudly presents a Learning Annex brochure with her smiling visage on the cover, Heather makes fun of her behind her back, saying that she would be mortified if she was on the cover of that course catalog. Later in the episode, they argue in the Hamptons about who interrupts the other more, and it’s great fun to watch.
Jill Zarin may have already dissed her. In a recent tweet, former RHONY star Jill wrote, “I met @AvivaDrescher and she is lovely and classy. We were told the reunion was too ‘dark and mean’ so they needed a change.i expect the ladies arent supposed to bring drama like old days?” Well, Jill, everyone knows that a Real Housewives franchise is most watchable when there are lots of screams, wig-yanks, and Turtle Time cameos. So if Heather was the intended butt of this joke, she might want to keep her guard up.
