5-Year-Old Chinese Boy Becomes Youngest Solo Pilot as Father Is Called Into Question

If you’re like us, the story of Bejing’s Duo Duo will break your heart and just might even make you angry...very, very angry. He’s only 5 years old and yet his dad, He Liesheng, who refers to himself as "Eagle Dad," has put him through a series of rigorous and, quite frankly, harrowing experiences.

While the fact that the little boy has just gotten into the record books for being the youngest solo pilot is pretty amazing he successfully piloted an ultralight aircraft nearly a thousand feet above the city some of the other tasks have been downright cruel.

In fact, a YouTube video shows the little boy being forced to run through snow without a shirt on as he’s crying. The video has received almost two million views, with many commenters calling out the man for his “heartless” style of parenting.

When asked by NBC correspondent Angus Walker about the fact that others might think he is cruel, He Leisheng said, “A child can only really exercise their body and will power under harsh conditions, it's up to the parents to decide what kind of person they become.”

Interestingly enough, during that very interview, Duo Duo said something to his father that was translated to him having said, “Daddy, I want to play.”

While his dad indulged his childlike behavior and allowed him to play, it’s back to the outrageous and downright scary soon enough. The next feat? The pair are going to hike across Tibet.
