7th Annual Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon: Our Fave Celebs Shine at the Event! (PHOTOS)
Thursday, February 27, marked the 7th Annual Essence Black Women in Hollywood luncheon. As with many of the pre-Oscar events going on this week, the luncheon celebrated and honored some of the leading African American women in the film and entertainment industry. ;
Yesterday’s honorees included 12 Years a Slave actress Lupita Nyong’o, who was presented with an award for Best Breakout Performance by screen veteran Alfre Woodard. Kerry Washington, who presented the Visionary award to filmmaker Ava DuVernay, wowed the crowed with a stunning blue ensemble that almost camouflaged her growing baby bump!
Other notables at the event included Cheryl Boone Isaacs, the first black president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science, who was presented the Trailblazer award by Oprah Winfrey and Sidney Poitier.
